ROUTING

The Trans-Siberian railway connects Europe and China, extending the wide gauge network over 9,500 km through Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. In Europe and in China the cross-over from the wide gauge to the normal gauge is effected through specially equipped terminals positioned in Brest (Belarus)/Malaszewicze (Poland) for the northern connection, and Chop (Ukraine)/Dobra (Slovakia) or Zahony (Hungary) for the southern connection. In the Far East the main cross-over point is Zabaikalsk (Russia)/Manzhouli (China); from there most of our shipments are operated. It is followed by our southern connection via Dostyk (Kazakhstan)/Alashankou (China), which serves Chongqing trains. The routing via Vostochny is primarily used to connect South Korean and Chinese ports by vessel, operated for quantities of 30 FEU per shipment.

*Transit times subject to change

The transit time depends on many factors which influence the operational production of the transport like the relation (loading/unloading place), the volume (block-train or single container), and on the pre-/on-carriage system chosen in Europe (trucking or railing ex border). In average the transit time is about 12-14 days for block-trains and18-21 days for single container shipments. The fastest lead-time is achieved by arranging block-train volumes of approximately 40 FEU per shipment.

COMPARISON

Comparing transport modalities

Comparing the three transport modalities it appears that Far East Land Bridge’s railway offer is slightly more expensive than the vessel, however the transit-time is reduced by more than the half. The air freight although being the quickest solution entails enormous expenses. For example the cost for one 40ft container sent by air freight is approximately 10 times higher.

New supply chain concept

Our service is giving our clients the possibility to completely change the concept of their logistics supply chain by switching urgent cargo from the air freight to the railway, earning considerable savings in costs.
